Saudi Arabia is quietly reshaping its oil export strategy, and the numbers don't lie. Shipments out of Egypt's Sidi Kerir Mediterranean port have more than doubled, with the bulk of that crude traced back to Saudi Arabia, according to commodity analytics firm Kpler. That's a massive logistical pivot happening in real time.
The driver here is obvious: Red Sea shipping lanes have become a war zone. Houthi attacks on commercial vessels have made the traditional route through the Suez corridor a liability. Rather than gamble with tankers, Saudi Arabia is pushing crude overland through Egypt's Sumed pipeline and out via the Mediterranean. Safer, smarter, costlier — but necessary.
